2007 HOBI AWARDS

On Tuesday, November 6th, over seven hundred building industry professionals gathered at the Aqua Turf in Southington for the presentation of the 2007 HOBI Awards. Each year since 1993, the HBA has challenged its members to submit their best houses and communities in an effort to recognize craftsmanship, construction ingenuity and consumer value!

What are this year’s trends?
We saw mud room entrances getting even more luxurious & the mud room expanding to accommodate a built–in desk or even a sports laundry.

In the kitchen there were double pantries with etched glass doors, and throughout the home, salvaged beams, leaded and stain glass windows and antique paneling are increasingly popular.

Wainscoting has made it to the ceiling! We saw paneled ceilings everywhere!

In addition to the open finished stair to the attic, we saw the first floor open to the lower level, with no door separating the two. And finally, the new family room is the back yard, and we saw some spectacular outdoor environments!
